This time.. it IS all about me!

This is the page where you learn more about the blog-ster. I’m going to tell the whole thing… well within limits of course. Don’t want to let too many cats out of their respective bags. But still it should be pretty good. First I gotta do some research (which is code for digging through the attic), and verify a few facts, (you know, to protect the innocent) Then I need to pour through my book manuscript. (the book I never got around to having published… lol).  I may do some interviews too. That should be interesting… at least to me! Ha!

WORKWISE

Originally from Charlotte, NC, I moved to New Bern in 1989, opened a design studio, and began a whole new chapter in my life. Twenty years later, in 2008, I divide my time between family and the graphic design business, which I now operate from my home.

Beyond design, I’m a “work in progress” photographer, spending much of my free time documenting historic New Bern or capturing sunsets out on the OBX.

WELL CONNECTED:

I’m a techno gadget freak, with my MacBook Air, iPod and iTouch and all that cool Apple stuff. And I love the internet, and all it has to offer. So, if it’s the latest innovation, or at least new and improved, I’m probably already plugged into it.  I blog regularly, and I even have an RSS newsfeed! I use Google pretty much for everything, I do my bookkeeping On-Line and I use Skype and a WebCam to collaborate with my other cyberspace workers (one of ‘em even lives and works in India!) You can find me at lots of places on the web. For instance:

WHAT TYPE ARE YOU?

What “type” are you? According to Myers-Briggs, there are sixteen definate personality types. Their studies have been underway for more than fifty years, and the tests are widely used in academia, as well as human resources, and even the military. Over the years, the testing process has been streamlined, and it only takes a few minutes to administer. The results can be quite revealing. If nothing else, they can be entertaining. I happen to be an ENFP. And I am married to an ESTJ. My business partner is also an ESTJ. What’s all this about? See below:

According to a random on-line personality test, The Jung Typology Test, which is based on the old standard: Myers Briggs test, I am an ENFP. (broken down as: E=1%, N=25%, F=62%, P=78%). As it turns out, I’m special, as ENFP’s represent only 1-2% of the population. We can be classified as “idealists with emphasis being that of a champion”. Excerpted from Kiersey.com, the following is a description of such an individual:

In General… Idealist Portrait of the Champion, as follows:
Like the other Idealists, Champions are rather rare, say two or three percent of the population, but even more than the others they consider intense emotional experiences as being vital to a full life. Champions have a wide range and variety of emotions, and a great passion for novelty. They see life as an exciting drama, pregnant with possibilities for both good and evil, and they want to experience all the meaningful events and fascinating people in the world. The most outgoing of the Idealists, Champions often can’t wait to tell others of their extraordinary experiences.Champions can be tireless in talking with others, like fountains that bubble and splash, spilling over their own words to get it all out. And usually this is not simple storytelling; Champions often speak (or write) in the hope of revealing some truth about human experience, or of motivating others with their powerful convictions. Their strong drive to speak out on issues and events, along with their boundless enthusiasm and natural talent with language, makes them the most vivacious and inspiring of all the types.

Fiercely individualistic, Champions strive toward a kind of personal authenticity, and this intention always to be themselves is usually quite attractive to others. At the same time, Champions have outstanding intuitive powers and can tell what is going on inside of others, reading hidden emotions and giving special significance to words or actions. In fact, Champions are constantly scanning the social environment, and no intriguing character or silent motive is likely to escape their attention. Far more than the other Idealists, Champions are keen and probing observers of the people around them, and are capable of intense concentration on another individual. Their attention is rarely passive or casual. On the contrary, Champions tend to be extra sensitive and alert, always ready for emergencies, always on the lookout for what’s possible.

Champions are good with people and usually have a wide range of personal relationships. They are warm and full of energy with their friends. They are likable and at ease with colleagues, and handle their employees or students with great skill. They are good in public and on the telephone, and are so spontaneous and dramatic that others love to be in their company. Champions are positive, exuberant people, and often their confidence in the goodness of life and of human nature makes good things happen.

Joan Baez, Phil Donahue, Paul Robeson, Bill Moyer, Elizibeth Cady Stanton, Joeseph Campbell, Edith Wharton, Sargent Shriver, Charles Dickens, and Upton Sinclair are examples of Idealist Champions

In Relationships… ENFP men are described as follows: Idealist men find it relatively easy to express tender feelings, sympathize with others, and have female friends. Some even enjoy shopping. Many women find this intensely appealing while others view them as effeminate.

Idealist men are the most likely to provide romantic dates, an empathetic listening ear, and kindness. Women are likely to appreciate their ability to simply listen without trying to solve problems although they are likely to need to share the stage with the Idealist man who also wants to be heard. Along with sensitivity, Idealists are the most likely type of man to be moody, responding to the moods of those around them.

Typically, a male ENFP never lacks for female companionship. Women seek them outbecause they’re cheerful and believe in them. Their tendency has been to have very intense relationships which burn out quickly.  They eventually settle down and have a family but, are able to enjoy the experience of femininity in many different forms, as well. Example: business associates.

WHAT IS ADULT ADD?

blink-182What the hell is ADD? That’s a line from one of my favorite tunes from back in the 80’s, entitled  “What’s My Age Again” by Blink 182.  That was the first time I had ever heard the term used in public. I had no idea what it meant at the time.  I was soon to learn much more about it. It was 1995, and everything about me was about to change. Adult ADD is simply the adult form of the childhood disorder commonly known as ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.

The adult version usually manifests itself without hyperactivity, hence the shorter name: Attention Deficit Disorder, or ADD. Want information about this disorder? There are many books and several websites about it. Here’s two I can recommendADD Forums  or ADD Help Guide
